My TREMENDOUS weekend

What a tremendous weekend I had! Tin pin bowling, Laser strike and enjoying a tasty burger from Carls Jnr..........doesn't that sound exciting?

During the weekends I have been enjoying myself at tin pin bowling as well as Laser Strike. Because my dad had a day off work, my dad and I had some alone time. He took me out to some buildings to play some enjoyable games! He also took me to have a magnificent Carls Jnr burger.

After having a marvelous time with my dad, it was time to go. That was some great day we had! Leaving these places, it was really weird because.............we waved good bye to the wonderful mansions or should I say, game stadiums.

I loved all the things that I did that, I hoped that I could do it again!

Tennis practise

TENNIS! Who loves this sport? Well during the past few weeks, Room 18 have been learning how to play this awesome activity, with an awesome instructor.

Friday of last week, we went to the courts near the teachers lunch room at Pt England school, and practised how to play tennis. Just waiting not so patiently to play this sport, we went and prepared ourselves. To play tennis, we had to use rackets to hit the tennis ball, and we needed a net to hit the ball over it.

While we were learning different techniques, we all had to get into partners! One person had to serve the ball and one had to hit it. When it was time to swap over the person who served was the hitter and so on! We all had experienced how to play tennis!

Experiencing how the game of tennis went, there became tough challenges. There was excitement going on and many more! As we participated in this fantastic sport, there were Kings and Queens of the courts. The amount of minutes we spent with the coach was enjoyable.

The key point to learning tennis, was to experience it and to have an awesome time! It was so GREAT!

Trip to Huntley

During the two weeks of school holidays, my family and I went to Huntley for a family reunion. Packing our clothes into our suitcases, we ran into the car and went too our destination. As soon as we got there, we all gathered our luggage together, to put into the bus.

While the bags and suitcases were getting placed into the bus, we said some good byes to the rest that weren’t coming. As soon as we got onto the bus, it left! Just waiting not so patiently, all of us were bored so we fell asleep. Waking up, we all started laughing and all started to sing!

At last, WE ARRIVED IN HUNTLEY! Hopping out of the big vehicle, some very special people welcomed us to their Marae. They were singing in praise that we had finally made it! After a very special welcome, all of us went into the Marae and made our beds.

We were playing all kind of sports, and watched some t.v. There was food prepared for us and much more! I really enjoyed the first day at the Whare Noho! It was great to meet some new people that I had never met before!

France and Tonga go head to head

France and Tonga went face to face at Wellington on the 1st of October 2011. Just waiting very patiently for the game to start,
I made a bet with my family and said that Tonga was going to win the game.

It was going to be a very tough game between the two teams. During the game, I believe so that Tonga got the first try! So I cheered and said woooooooooooooo, GO TONGA!

I could not believe it but I thought that France was way better than the other team, but guest what........I WAS COMPLETELY WRONG. Tonga was not better but just Great!

The game had ended off with Tonga winning, so I had won the bet! Hip hip horay!

Samoa and Fiji Face to Face

Last Sunday, I was waiting not so patiently for Samoa’s game against Fiji. Waiting with my family, we ate Chicken and Chips. Just as we finished eating, the game finally came on.
Samoa and Fiji went head to head at Eden Park Stadium. The game was tough for Fiji! The scores for both teams were 27-7. Samoa got 27 points and Fiji unfortunately got 7 points.
The game ended off with Samoa winning the match! It was a great game between the two teams!

The story behind the U.S.A flag

If you are wondering what the story behind the U.S.A flag is, now you will know. I learnt that the red, whit? There are 13 red and white stripes on the U.S.A flag, which means 13 colonies rebelled against the British crown and became the first states in the union. The red stripes mean hardiness and valor. The white represents the United States.

Script for Tangled the movie

This is the story of how I died, don’t worry this is actually a fun story, and the truth is, it isn’t even mine. This is the story of a girl, named Rapunzel, and it’s starts with the sun. Now once upon a time, a single drop of sunlight fell from the heavens, and from this single drop of sun grew a magic, golden, flower. It had the ability to heal the sick an injured. Oh, you see that old women over there, you might want to remember her, she’s kind of important. Well century’s passed, and a hop skip and a boat ride away, there grew a kingdom. The kingdom was ruled by a beloved king and queen, and the queen, well she was about to have a baby. But she got sick, really sick.

She was running out of time and that’s when people usually start to look for a miracle, or in this case, a magic golden flower.

Nah I told you she’d be important. You see instead of sharing the suns gift, this woman mother Galfol, hored it’s healing power and used it to keep her self young for a hundred of years, and all she had to do was sing a special song “smell them gleam and glow, let your power shine, make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine, what once was mine.

Alright you get the gist, she sings to it she gets young, creepy, right?

We found it!

The magic of the golden flower, healed the Queen. A healthy baby girl, a princess was born, with beautiful golden hair. (happy sounds of baby goo goo gaa gaa), (The king chuckles appreciation). I’ll give you a hint, that’s Rapunzel. To celebrate her birth the king and queen launched a flying lantern into the sky. And for that moment, everything was perfect...... and then that moment ended.

“Flower gleam and glow, let your power shine, make the clock re (and the old lady gasps, baby cries)

Galfol broke into the castle stole the child and just like that GONE. The kingdom searched and searched but they could not find the princess. For deep within the forest in a hidden tower, Galfo raised the child as her own.

Take what has been lost, bring back what once was mine, what once was mine.

Gafol had found her new magic flower, but this time she was determined to keep it hidden.

“Why can’t I go outside?”

“The outside world is a dangerous place, filled with horrible selfish people.” “You must stay here where your are safe, do you understand flower.”

“Yes mummy!”

But the walls of that tower could not hide everything.......each year on her birthday, the king and queen released thousands of lanterns into the sky, and that one day their lost princess would return.

Learning a rap

On Tuesday of week 8, Room 18 learned a rap with Mr Umu. We were all excited to learn something new with a relever! We all knew that it was going to be very
EXCITING.

Learning the rap was enjoyable! It was great that we got to learn it with a talented teacher. Mr Umu was a great tutor and a great teacher! When Mr Umu told us how say the words, we listened. Because we had listened quietly and carefully, we didn't waste time. Listening to him, we got it quickly just like that.

If Mr Umu comes into Room 18, I hope that we will get to learn some other things, like the afakasi song. I am going to be hoping for that day to come. Mr Umu is great at singing and rapping. He is really great, that is why he taught us. Mr Umu ROCKS!

Country studdies

In week six, we had been studdying on the United States of America and finding out what the story behind their flag was. We have been studdying on different countries! Every week we always have a different country to study about.

It has been very exciting to have been learning about some countries like Canada and the United States of America. I have enjoyed learning about those countries! I have learnt alot about Canada, and one of the things that I wanted you to know about Canada, is that the West Edmonton is one of the largest malls in the world.

Because we are learning about some countries who are playing in the Rugby World Cup, we are doing assignments and one of our assingments is to make our own personal project. I am very excited to be making my own project piece, because I think that it is going to be really challenging for me!

I can't wait to post my personal project onto my blog!

Auditions, FRIGHTENING

Have you ever auditioned for a part in a role or for glee. Well I have! During term two, I auditioned for glee. I was frightened! As I walked onto the stage, I felt scared and shy. I was so scared, but I managed to stay put and managed to perform WELL.

At first, I thought that I was going to audition in front of loads of people. That’s what made not want to show all the talent I had. It made PANIC. But then I said to myself that there is nothing to be afraid of.

I had some great news! Freaking out, I was over excited because I had made it into glee. Woohoo I said! Over fulled with joy and happiness, I couldn't barely wait till we performed at the school assembly. It was definitely some shocking news.

Spanish language.....hard to learn

This week I have chosen to learn the Spanish language. I am working towards saying hi my name is Naomi in Spanish.
I think that talking in Spanish is going to be very tuffe and difficult, because it isn’t my own language.

Do you know how hard it is to speak Spanish? Well it is very hard! I have been using the google translator to figure out how to say hi my name is Naomi properly. I managed to say it and it go’s like this (hola mi nombre es Naomi).

Even though the Spanish language was really hard to learn, I managed to do it. It was a lot of fun learning a different language! It didn’t seem to be as easy as I thought it would, but at least I tried. Learning the Spanish language was a challenge for me!

My certificate

This is a certificate that I have earned this week. I am working towards earning more certificates.

Badminton experience

During the week, room 18 and some other classes had the chance to learn how to play badminton. Room 18 were all excited! Going to the hall, we knew that badminton was going to be CHALLENGING.

As we got to the hall, we met with the tutor that we were going to work with. I totally forgot her name! Well any ways, we were all taught how to hit the shuttles with rackets.

It was honestly difficult to hit the shuttle! I was struggling! Because the shuttle didn’t look like a tennis ball, the first time I tried to hit the shuttle, it didn’t work, but then the second time I tried to hit, I DID.

After we had learnt about badminton, we had competitions. It was two against two! Every time one person lost another person had to come on. The competitions were extremely “COOL”.

It was great that we got to experience about playing this sport. I hope that I get to play badminton next time.

Studying on Canada

During the week, room 18 has been studying about Canada. Because we are studying about Canada, we have been working on assignments based on the country. We are trying to finish our assignments in time so that we can do fun stuff.

We have been studying and searching for Canadian facts! Last week we were working on New Zealand. As said in the first paragraph we all tried to complete the assignments.

I have been trying really hard to finish my work, and managed to finish it. I am glad that I have been working hard and sometimes being focused.

Favorite player

My favorite player in the all blacks is Sonny Bill Williams. He plays inside center! I was researching about all the facts Sonny Bill Williams, and found out that he was born on August the 3rd 1985. I also found out that his full name was Sonny William Williams

This week my class got to choose a All Black player and had to make a passport for them. There was one thing that I had difficulty and that was what his ethnic group was. Luckily I had found out what it was, and it said that his ethnic group was a Samoan, Maori.

This year I am hoping to see the rugby world cup! If I get the chance to go their, I will want to watch the all blacks.

My goal

What I like about this term is that we are studying on the rugby world cup 2011. I also like the topic theme(Keep your eye on the ball), and even getting the chance to draw a rugger character.

My goal for this term is to focus really hard on getting my basic maths tables right, and to finish the work that I get told to do by my teacher. I am also trying hard to achieve my goal! I keep on saying to myself that I need to achieve it by the end of this term.

This term I am looking forward to seeing the production! I think that the production is going to be fantastic and cool. I am also looking forward to the netball tournaments. The tournament is going to be challenging! This term is going to be a big hit.

Feeling emotional

Feeling down...really sad
What is wrong
Don’t understand
Regretting something
Really hard
Don’t be scared
Say it out
Instead of keeping it in your heart
Let it go and just move on

Great times with Emma

For the past few weeks, our class has been learning how to play Netball. We have been training with a skilled netball tutor named Emma. Emma is a really talented person.
We have been learning passing skills and shooting skills. Before we actually played a real game of netball, we spent weeks practicing new and exciting techniques. After practicing how to play netball on the second to last week with Emma,we played a real game. We all enjoyed ourselves!
Netball was extremely awesome, even if the boys contacted and stepped with the ball. Our class really enjoyed being with Emma. We had an awesome time!

Value of learning

Do you know what ‘LEARNING’ looks like? Well you are in luck because I am going to tell you about my value, ‘LEARNING’. While I am trying to tell you what learning looks like, I must admit, that it is a bit difficult to explain values. It looks like people listening and giving their best effort (trying).

Learning feels good because it helps you succeed, which means, if you don’t get something like your maths and you want to get it then you’ll just have to try. It makes you feel glad when you finally understand what learning feels like.

What my value sounds like is, people working quietly and silently. Learning sounds quiet because people like to finish their work, for example, if there’s to much noise it’s hard to concentrate on your own work.

Tamaki College experience

For the last few weeks, we had the opportunity to go to Tamaki College. Entering the hall there stood year twelve students. They made us feel respected!
When we arrived we played all sorts of amazing games like blind fold, trust worthy and orienteering. The game I had most interest in was blind fold, because it felt cool having my eyes covered up.
We had a lot of fun at Tamaki College. Unfortunately it was time for us to say goodbye. I will always remember playing with the Tamaki College students. It was a great time.
